In fall 2024, structural work on the Le Quartz project — a 39,120-sq-ft multi-residential building— was completed in a record three months, just prior to the winter season.

Thanks to CAD/CAM 3D modeling using cadwork, the design, prefabrication, and assembly of 1,294 walls — totaling 9,610 linear feet.

Seamless Coordination Enabled by cadwork 3D Modeling

Floor plans in PDF format from the architect were integrated in cadwork 3D. It allowed to model wall panel shells in sizes matching fabrication and transport capabilities as well as rough openings. Once done, the Element Module could be put in action to populate walls automatically based on Laygo’s details.

The user could then integrate MITEK Z4 seismic connectors, based on engineer’s requirements and adjust/add a few parts.

Through machine/BTL export, model data was transmitted directly to manufacturing equipment, ensuring an error-free production flow with no information loss.

Teams also leveraged the cadwork Webviewer, simplifying coordination among architects, engineers, carpenters, and the general contractor — a major advantage for remote project tracking and approval.

Performance, Precision, and Speed of Execution

The LAYGO 2.0 prefabricated walls, modeled in cadwork, enabled SLG Construction to erect the structure in record time, allowing GERIK Construction to proceed with interior work throughout the winter.

This time savings had a direct impact on the project’s profitability, enabling the units to be leased much sooner than expected.
